Even though we didn’t let him eat any of the candy, Jonas really enjoyed his first Halloween trick-or-treating experience. How often do you get to wear a turtle suit and walk around collecting free candy?
Chris is both mom and Mandarin tutor, and here she’s going through Jonas’ growing vocabulary, which mostly includes family members, animals, and vehicles at this point. You know, just the important stuff.
We hit the streets of the Columbia City business district first, and every block was packed with people, including many of the usual suspects: cute kids, hipster parents, and several of our friends and neighbors from the ‘hood.
Afterwards, we met up with Jonas’ new friend and neighbor, who also speaks Mandarin! Kids these days… adorable and bilingual! Remarkable.

Comment by LK November 1, 2009 @ 10:54 pmThe only thing Jonas has to learn when people ask him about cars is “HONDA”. Then his baba will be happy… haha.
Comment by gar November 2, 2009 @ 12:09 am@gar: he’ll also have to learn leasing/buying so he can change cars as much as his papa…
Comment by georgesong November 2, 2009 @ 10:01 pmi’d like to go on the record insisting that jonas’ interest in cars has not been instigated by me; now whether or not it has simply emerged as a genetic predisposition is another issue. i swear he just picked up a car at 10 months, pushed it on the floor and said “vroom”- this, all by himself. we have it on video.
